Say Hello to Pat Ellison and the Patz Dogs Family

Thanks for taking a moment to get to know us. I'm Pat Ellison, an Oregon-based Chihuahua breeder and an animal lover for as long as I can remember. I'm not a certified dog trainer, but I'm glad to pass along what I've learned over the years—take whatever helps with your own dog.

My husband and I make our home in Oregon with the youngest three of our eight children. Animals have always been a part of my life—I've kept dogs and horses since I was a child and spent many years training and working with horses. These days our household has six dogs and three horses, a mix of very big and very small companions.

Six dogs under one roof can get hectic, and keeping the peace is a constant effort. These dogs live inside with us, while our horses kindly share their outdoor space with us.

How Our Breeding Program Got Started

After my husband retired, we wanted a small home business we could both enjoy. Having spent nearly 40 years raising children, we were ready for something smaller—and nothing is much smaller than a Chihuahua. Our breeding program has been a real pleasure; every dog has such a distinct personality that it barely feels like work.

What Being Alpha Taught Me

Working with horses taught me early on that I had to be the alpha to stay safe. I figured a 3–4 lb. dog would naturally see me as the leader—but I soon found myself slipping down the pack order. Chihuahuas are smart and stubborn, so I had to stay extra watchful, especially with several of them running around. Plenty of good resources exist for dog owners, and I'll share as many as I can.

When I started this site, my goal was to showcase lovely Chihuahua puppies for sale. Using SBI (Site Build It) has made that easy, enjoyable, and profitable. Just keep in mind: this site isn't really about us—it's about dogs, yours and mine, and how we can best care for them. If you think something's missing, tell me.
